Dr. Kaliannan (Kal) Raju pursued a career in Cancer research before moving to the Information Technology world. He has a PhD from University of Toronto, Canada and is currently working in Michigan. He is very interested in the origin and evolution of life on earth. He believes a complete understanding of the nature and meaning of consciousness is the major challenge facing humanity today.  He supports the view that AI (Artificial Intelligence) and Brain Simulation studies through BAM (Brain Activity Mapping) will, in the very near future, revolutionize the way we look at ourselves and life in general.  While his approach to these intriguing questions is mostly scientific, he is also interested in what Philosophy and Psychology have to say in these very challenging and fascinating areas of research.
